Selwyn Mar is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (U.K.), a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FCPA). He graduated from London School of Economics at London University in U.K. with a Bachelor Degree in Economics. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Lingnan University and an appointed member of the Court of Lingnan University. He also sits on the board of a number of corporations listed in Hong Kong. He has extensive experience in commerce and industry having worked as the Chief Executive in Asia Pacific for a group of toy manufacturing companies of a listed company in the New York Stock Exchange and the President and Executive Director of The Sincere Department Store in Hong Kong and in Mainland China. He was actively involved in the retail industry in Mainland China in the 1990s which led to the setting up of a joint venture department store, the first of its kind, in Shanghai. He was the President of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (now known as Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants - HKICPA) in 1991, a member of the Commission of Securities & Futures Appeals Panel, the Takeovers and Mergers Panel, Insider Dealing Tribunal and various committees of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants. He was also a director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong chairing its China Committee and a Governor of the Chinese International School. He was the Chairman of the Asia Pacific Region and a Director of the Board of Nexia International, a global network of accounting firms. His advice and opinion are well respected among the Hong Kong business, accounting community and regulatory authorities. |
